Brewing the Perfect Cup of Tea

We’ve been talking a lot about different events and what has been going on at Chariteas, but we haven’t even informed you about brewing the perfect cup of tea. It is important to know a little about brewing so that you don’t get bitter tea or just hot water. We want to enjoy our tea to the fullest, so here are some steps to brew just one cup of tea, or a whole pot:

Tea for You 1. Heat water to the appropriate temperature indicated in the table below. 2. Measure 1 teaspoon of loose tea into the tea filter or tea strainer. When using a tea filter, carefully lay the longer edge of the filter over the side of the tea cup. 3. Pour the heated water into the tea cup and let the tea steep for the recommended brewing time. 4. Remove the strainer or tea filter to prevent the tea from becoming too bitter.

Tea for Two (or Three or More) 1. Heat water to the appropriate temperature indicated in the table below. 2. Measure 1 teaspoon of tea for each cup of water to be poured into the teapot. 3. Pour the heated water into the teapot and let the tea steep for the recommended brewing time. During this time, the brewed tea leaves should settle at the bottom of the teapot. 4. Pour the tea into a favorite cup, sip and enjoy!

Type of Tea, Water Temperature, and Brewing Time Black; Full, rolling boil; 4-6 minutes Green; Just before water reaches full boil. Steam should be gently swirling from the spout of the kettle; 2-3 minutes White; Very first hint of steam; 2 minutes
